漫步户外尽管没有钓鱼，瓦勒耶挑战赛还是很有趣
尽管瓦勒耶挑战赛的钓鱼部分没有举行，但活动还是吸引了大量观众。
那天早上，我和几个朋友还是去钓了几条鱼。湖面结冰情况不一，我们在湖西侧垂钓的区域冰层厚度为 3-6 英寸。我们钓到了大约 10 条胡瓜鱼和几条较小的北方鱼，但没什么可写的。大约中午时分，我们收拾好东西，前往湖边的兰兹餐厅（Lanzi's On The Lake）。
像往常一样，30 号公路两侧的保险杠一字排开，每个方向都有 3/4 英里长。奖品送出了一个又一个；八小时内每小时送出六条 "鱼"。各种门票奖品应有尽有，从喷气式雪橇到离子钻，再到成套的 Heritage tip ups，更不用说一辆并排车和两辆四轮车了。60 美元的报名费其实不算什么，因为你有机会赢得一些相当高端甚至非常高端的奖品。
在我看来，这是最容易做出决定的一次瓦勒耶挑战赛，因为冰面条件太差了。通常情况下，主办与否都要经过一番折腾。今年却很难拒绝。我觉得参赛者们比往常更能接受这一点。
