缅因州居民因感染可能致命的蜱媒波瓦桑病毒而住院治疗
缅因州疾病控制和预防中心（Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention，简称缅因州疾控中心）已确诊一例缅因州居民感染波瓦桑病毒（Powassan virus）。
缅因州疾病预防控制中心本周从新罕布什尔州卫生与公众服务部收到了该病例的通知。这名成人居住在缅因州南部，目前已在新罕布什尔州住院治疗。
Powassan 病毒于 1958 年首次被描述。病例在美国非常罕见，每年平均报告 7 例。自 2000 年以来，缅因州已发现 11 例病例。
Powassan 病毒是通过被感染的柴鸡或鹿蜱叮咬传播给人类的。虽然许多感染了波瓦桑病毒的人不会出现症状，但体征和症状可能包括发烧、头痛、呕吐、虚弱、精神错乱、抽搐和记忆力减退。长期可能出现神经系统问题，包括感染大脑或大脑和脊髓周围的膜。严重感染可能致命。
