化学吸收剂
化学吸收剂一般包括水杨酸盐、噌啉酸盐或二苯甲酮等名称。这些化学家族中又有多种变体，一个配方通常包括两种或两种以上的吸收剂。通过将太阳光线的能量转化为热量，可以减少这些光线对深层皮肤的伤害。在实验室条件下，一种名为阿维苯宗（Parsol 1789）的新型吸收剂已被证明可提供额外的紫外线防护。

物理阻隔剂
物理阻隔剂是二氧化钛（TiO2）或氧化锌，它们能真正反射太阳光。虽然从理论上讲，物理阻隔剂是非常好的，但我们的广泛研究还没有发现能够在活动中固定这些微粒的配方，我们也未能开发出符合或超过我们现有配方的这种配方。如果能找到这样一种技术，就能真正更好地抵御 UVA 射线。
