威斯康星州卫生服务部（DHS）宣布，今年威斯康星州东北部居民首次确诊感染西尼罗河病毒（WNV），建议居民继续做好防护，防止蚊虫叮咬。

西尼罗河病毒通过受感染蚊子的叮咬传播给人类，不会在人与人之间传播。蚊子通过捕食受感染的鸟类感染病毒。

大多数人类 WNV 病例发生在八月和九月。不过，在蚊子活跃的任何时候，都有感染 WNV 和其他蚊子传播疾病（如詹姆斯敦峡谷病毒、拉克罗斯脑炎病毒或东部马脑炎病毒）的风险，因此，在整个夏季剩余时间和初秋，人们都必须提高警惕，防止蚊子叮咬。
