What Gear am I Using: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

In an earlier draft of my article, I realized that all of my pieces of gear fall into one of three categories. The Good, things that I like and plan to keep around, The Bad, gear that I don’t love but can’t replace due to time/money, and The Ugly, which is things that totally work but are super scuffed. I'm Owen Harries, a college kid hiking on a budget and a dream. This summer I'll be attempting to complete the Superior Hiking Trail, starting from the old southern terminus at Martin Road. I'm a big fan of eating M&Ms and flashing a thumbs up in every single selfie I take (it's a reflex at this point). I hate heights but love views. Can't wait to get out there!

Sawyer Squeeze + Cnoc VectoX 2L 28mm is widely considered to be the most reliable filter-bladder combo in existence, and we agree 100% with that sentiment.

I carry the Sawyer Squeeze in my day pack in case of emergencies and as a backup to my larger water filter on backpacking trips where I know I’ll be relying on streams.
